Goats as Pets

Goats make very nice pets.  They love to be around people, are very personable, and love attention.  It's best to have two goats to keep each other company.  Goats make good companions for horses and ponies.  Being hardy, adaptable animals, goats can thrive in any climate. The hair is medium to short.
  • Baby goats born on the Peterson Farm are bottle fed right from birth.  Bottle fed babies tend to be friendlier than those that are dam raised.
  • Our animals are in good health and are tested yearly for TB and Brucellosis.  Good worming practices are maintained.
  • Our animals are registered with the American Dairy Goat Association and are of good show quality.

Goat Milk

The benefits of goat milk are many.  It is a complete protein containing all the essential amino acids without the heavy fat content and catarrh producing materials of cow's milk. The Alpine breed is a moderate to heavy milking breed.  Their milk is creamy and has a sweet taste.  One Alpine produces enough milk to supply a large family (five to six people).
